Finding the Lost Art of Listening

Years ago, there was a popular commercial for a cell phone company featuring a man walking around while talking to someone on his phone asking the question, "Can you hear me now?". The point of the advertisement was to say that company had better service coverage than the competition. And it probably made them a LOT of money!

That same question is valid today, but it needs to be expanded. People want and need to be not only heard but also listened to. The problem is not many people seem to be listening. Frederick Faber described it this way:

“Many persons, whose manners will stand the test of speaking, break down under the trial of listening.”

James taught his audience something about this that we would do well to learn today. This lesson takes a closer look at that. Thanks for tuning in!
